The fine print, in plain English

Disclaimer

BJJMath's calculators are informational tools, not professional advice. Here's exactly what that means.

Last updated: June 2026.

BJJMath provides calculators and educational content about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, gear and training. It is offered "as is," for general informational purposes only.

Not medical, nutritional, or professional advice

The calorie, weight-cut, return-to-roll, belt-timeline and training-load tools produce estimates and general guidance, not personalized advice. They are not a substitute for a qualified physician, registered dietitian, physical therapist, or your own coach and instructor. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read here. If you may have a medical emergency, contact a medical professional immediately.

Recovery and weight cutting carry real risk

Returning from injury too early, or cutting weight too fast, can cause serious harm. Our tools are built to steer toward caution — but no calculator can clear you to train or compete. When in doubt, see a clinician and wait.

Competition rules can change

IBJJF weight classes, points, and age divisions are taken from the official rule book and cross-checked, but rules are updated periodically and event-specific exceptions exist. Always confirm against the current official rule book and your event's published rules before competing. BJJMath is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the IBJJF, ADCC, or any sanctioning body.

No guarantee of accuracy

We work hard to be accurate and to cite our sources on the methodology page, but we make no warranty that every result is error-free or current. Use your judgment, and tell us if you spot a mistake at hello@bjjmath.com.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BJJMath and its operators are not liable for any loss or injury arising from use of this site or reliance on its calculators.
